Assignment: Essay 2: Due Monday, November 14th

Here's some resource from the pro-war side.

War Is Sometimes the Only Answer

By Michael S. Berliner (April 17, 2003) Director of the Ayn Rand Center

While the peaceniks were chanting that "war isn't the answer" and "war accomplishes nothing," the United States was ridding the world of yet another murdering tyrant. Unfortunately, war is sometimes the only answer--when the Hitlers of the world provide no option. No amount of wishful thinking will disarm those tyrants. Rational discussion is the "answer" to how disputes are settled--but only among civilized (rational) people.

Assignment: So you have read and heard lot about it. You have seen both sides. So write me a two page essay that speaks to your opinion on war. Can the eradication of war be the mission of yours or future generations? Is it feasible? Is it possible? Could peace really have its day? Or -- is war inevitable? Is it a necessary evil? Would deproliferation make us vulnerable to attack? Is man inherintly evil? Is there a reason why we have been killing each other for as long as we have been living with each other?

Whatever your opinion -- back it up with at least three sources. Yes, you may use the ones I have provided you, but you should have at least one original source of your own.
